The Danger of Mood Swings in Purpose and Relationships

A woman of Godly value must learn that emotions are real, but emotions must not become her master. Your feelings can communicate something important, but they should not determine every decision you make in purpose, relationships or ministry. There are days when you feel inspired and days when you feel discouraged, but your assignment from God cannot be governed by your emotional weather. “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” Proverbs 14:29.

Mood swings can affect relationships when a person becomes loving today and distant tomorrow without understanding how that inconsistency affects others. Your partner should not constantly have to investigate which version of you they are going to meet. There is a difference between having legitimate emotional needs and making other people suffer because you have not learned how to process your emotions. God wants you emotionally healthy enough to communicate what you feel without using your emotions as weapons.

The same principle applies to purpose. You cannot abandon your assignment every time you become discouraged. You cannot continually start something because you are excited and abandon it when the excitement disappears. Purpose requires consistency, discipline and faithfulness. There will be seasons when you do not feel motivated, but maturity teaches you how to remain committed even when your emotions are not cooperating with your assignment.

This does not mean you should suppress your emotions or pretend everything is fine. A godly woman must be honest about what she feels and learn how to process those feelings in the presence of God. Talk to the Holy Spirit. Seek wise counsel. Communicate honestly. Rest when necessary. But do not make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions. Your feelings deserve attention, but they do not deserve the throne.

Beloved daughter of God, your value is not measured by how emotionally unpredictable you can become or by how much attention your mood can command. Your strength is revealed when you can remain tender without becoming unstable, expressive without becoming manipulative, and emotional without losing wisdom. Let the Holy Spirit establish your heart so that your emotions can serve your purpose rather than sabotage it. You were created to build, nurture, influence and fulfill God's assignment with grace.Men of Godly Value
